SMC Global Power Holdings Corp. Debuts in the PDEx Organized Secondary Market

11 July 2016, Makati Philippines – SMC Global Power Holdings Corp. (SMCGP), the power generation arm of San Miguel Corporation, listed its maiden issuance of PHP 15 Billion 5, 7 and 10 Year Fixed Rate Bonds in the PDEx organized market.
The newly listed bonds increase the total share of listed issues to PhP 60 Billion or 10% of the overall outstanding listed corporate bonds in PDEx for the San Miguel Group. This sixth listing for the year brings the year-to-date total of new listings to PhP 45.958 billion and the total level of tradable corporate debt instruments to PhP 576.15 billion issued by 37 companies, comprised of 107 securities.
SMCGP General Manager Elenita D. Go remarked: “This fund raising will surely assist us towards our goal. We are currently building additional capacities through our Greenfield power plants in Limay, Bataan and Malita, Davao. Commercial operation of these power plants will begin by end of 2016 until 2019. We will continue to build more power plants to meet the needs of a growing economy and contribute towards nation building.”
PDS Group President and CEO Cesar B. Crisol said: “For the corporate bond market, the first month under the new President is looking very positive, with three corporate bond listings expected to raise PHP 35 Billion from public investors. We look forward to seeing this energy and vibrancy in the corporate sector and matching demand by bond investors sustained throughout the rest of the year, and our economy resilient amid the myriad challenges in the global economy.”
The event was held at the PDS Group Assembly Hall and was graced by San Miguel Group Directors and Officers, including SMCGP General Manager Elenita D. Go, SMCGP Chief Finance Officer Alexander B.M. Simon, SMC Head of Treasury Sergio G. Edeza, and SMC Deputy Chief Finance Officer Joseph N. Pineda.
